Brother XII claimed that the matrix from which all forms of spiritual Truth had emerged were the Mysteries of Egypt, dating back aeons before the building of the Pyramids, when Egypt was ruled by divine King-Initiates, the regents of a great Spiritual Hierarchy. His mission, in part, was to restore the Mysteries of that mighty Past to the contemporary world.
On October 19, 1924, he was staying in a small village in the south of France when he awoke one night to see an Egyptian ankh hovering in the darkness before him, radiating a soft golden fire. He watched it for some time until it gradually faded from his sight; he interpreted this vision as a sign that his mission was about to begin.
Three days later, while lying in bed in the darkness, Wilson intuitively sensed that he was about to hear a Voice. Immediately, he had the sensation of looking down an enormous vista flanked with thousands and thousands of pillars. He seemed to be gazing into both Time and Space at once. The room trembled and the air itself throbbed and vibrated as a majestic Voice addressed him:
“THOU WHO HAST WORN THE DOUBLE CROWN OF UPPER AND LOWER EGYPT, OF THE HIGH KNOWLEDGE AND THE LOW, HUMBLE THYSELF. PREPARE THY HEART, FOR THE MIGHTY ONES HAVE NEED OF THEE. THOU SHALT REBUILD, THOU SHALT RESTORE. THEREFORE, PREPARE THY MIND FOR THAT WHICH SHALL ILLUMINE THEE.”
Brother XII was clearly identified as a pharaoh during this extraordinary event. In his writings, he speaks of his relationship with the 18th Dynasty pharaoh Akhenaten, and his “Invocation of Light” was evidently inspired by Akhenaten’s famous “Hymn to the Sun.” Brother XII’s disciples believed that he was indeed a pharaoh who was trying to reclaim in his present life the power that he had once wielded in his ancient past.
